Our hosting and security providers, including Cloudflare, process technical information needed to deliver and protect the site. This can include IP addresses, browser and device information, requested URLs, timestamps, and security events. If you email us, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include.
Local weather and approximate location
For nearby weather, the site uses the approximate location Cloudflare derives from your IP address. This can be inaccurate, particularly with a VPN or mobile network. The weather feature does not request device GPS or a browser location permission, and does not store your precise coordinates. Approximate coordinates are rounded to one decimal place before being sent from our server to the National Weather Service to find a nearby city and reporting station.
We cache regional station lookups for up to 24 hours and public weather observations for up to 10 minutes, without linking those cache entries to an individual visitor. Personalized weather responses are not shared-cacheable. You can select Austin, Dallas, or Houston instead; the selection lasts for the current page. If location or nearby U.S. observations are unavailable, the widget labels the fallback and shows Texas city choices.
How information is used and shared
Information is used to operate and secure the site, diagnose problems, respond to inquiries, and meet legal obligations. Service providers may process information for these purposes. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, or the security of the site.
